How to Grow Thick Hair Naturally
Hair fall and damage can occur due to many reasons like genetics, hormones (during pregnancy), medications, diet deficiencies and some medical illnesses( stress). Several natural remedies and hair growth supplements can be used to make hair appear thicker and longer. However, this methods do not provide instant results as it may take a while to see the results, say (1-6) years since hair grows half an inch per month.
Even so, some changes can be seen in the hair after several months. The hair appears moisturized, shinier and healthier.
Here are a few Remedies to Grow Thick Hair Naturally
1. Castor Oil
Castor oil is rich in anti-oxidants, proteins, vitamins and fatty acids which increase blood circulation and nourish the scalp. It also has moisturizing properties which help lubricate the hair shaft, increasing flexibility and decreasing the chance of hair breakage.
2. Applying Onion juice
Onions have microbial and anti-inflammatory properties which help to increase the strength and number of hair. Onions also contain powerful elements such as Folic acid, Sulphur and Vitamin C which helps in reducing hair thinning and breakage. Regular use of onions can stimulate hair growth, strengthen hair roots and reduce hair loss.
3. Eating a Healthy diet
Eating a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins(A, B, C and E),fatty acids and minerals helps promote hair growth. Eating adequate protein is important because hair follicles are mostly made up of proteins thus promoting hair growth. Food that supports hair thickness include: Spinach, Eggs, Sweet potatoes, Avocados, Beans, Berries, Nuts, Pumpkin seeds and Meat.
4. Coconut oil
Coconut oil contains Lauric acid which moisturizes hair thus reducing hair breakage. It also has vitamins and fatty acids which help nourish your scalp and penetrate the hair cuticles. A treatment mask every once or twice per week helps promote hair growth. Coconut oil is good for people with soft hair on a regular basis. However, it is not advisable for use on a regular basis for people with dry hair. This is because, with repeated use coconut oil can cause protein build-up making your hair more stiff, hard and less elastic thus causing more breakage while combing.
5. Eggs
Eggs contain protein minerals and Vitamin B complex such as biotin. Biotin is important for production of a hair protein called Keratin which boost hair growth. Eggs help in stimulating hair growth, improve hair volume and texture. Eggs also help to strengthen and condition hair.
6. Homemade Masks
Hair masks can help to encourage hair growth. They can be used as a hair conditioner and they help in maintaining hair color, hydrating hair, maintaining scalp health and providing volume and body to the hair. A mask can be made by mashing up a banana and adding up 2 tablespoons of olive oil and applied all over the scalp and hair. The mask can be washed off after 20-30 minutes.
